If you don’t yet have a Will, now is the time to write one.
Two thirds of UK adults don’t have a Will, or if they do, it’s out of date.
A well-written Will would make it much easier for your family to deal with your affairs when you die.
You decide who will benefit, what they will get, and that your estate is dealt with in the way you wish.
It can also help to reduce the amount of any inheritance tax payable on your estate.
If you have a Will, now is the time to check it still matches your wishes. This is important if you have experienced a major life changing event, such as a divorce, or the birth of a child or grandchildren, or if you have recently inherited property.
Simple changes, such as changing an executor, can often by done by using a codicil. Though for other changes, such as altering how your estate will be divided up, it is better to write a new Will.
